Poll Findings: “How does the LGBTI community vote?”

In the framework of the initiative “Think Politically”, Pro LGBT and Alliance Against Discrimination LGBT distributed some polls for the LGBTI community voters. The survey below does not aim to present the political preferences of the community, but its attitudes to various political issues such as the right to vote, equal access to health, discrimination in the workplace and school, domestic violence, etc.

From the results we noticed some key findings:

Only 14% of the respondents said they would not vote in the elections of June 25th. 69% are confident that they will vote, a higher number compared to the general population vote, which in the past elections was about 53%. While the remaining 17% said they have not yet decided whether to vote or not.

To a large extent (75%), respondents answered that their vote is influenced by political party programs, while only 11% stated that their vote is affected by the promises made during the electoral campaign.

Respondents were asked to choose between 5 issues the ones they think as the most important for the LGBTI community. The first is the prohibition of discrimination at work and educational system by 80%, continuing with the prohibition of domestic violence 62%. Unlike it is broadly reported in the media, the right to create a family is in the third place with 50%, followed by the right to equal access to health especially for transgender people, 47%.
