We want to share with all of our readers the full media monitoring report, conducted by Pro-LGBT and its news portal Historia Ime, thanks to the Ethical Journalism in Albania project.
This project is financially supported by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the German Embassy in Tirana and has included in the monitoring process both online and visual media, for the presence of hate speech, discriminatory language, and sexist slurs.
The first part of the report on visual media has monitored three prime-time political shows that are broadcasted on Top Channel, Ora News and TV Klan, respectively, the shows: Open, 360 ̊, and Opinion. Two of the shows are hosted by male moderators and one of the shows is hosted by a female moderator.
While the second part of the report, regarding hate speech and discriminatory in the online media presents the findings of monitoring in three online media, focusing on the content of hate speech, sexist slurs, and discriminatory use of language. Within this project the following online media: Syri.net, Shqiptarja.com, and Balkanweb were monitored. The monitoring process was conducted during the period of March 15 – August 31, 2020.
Based on the data provided by the monitoring report, in the coming months, we will organize 4 online training sessions on Media Ethics and Ethical Reporting.
