TIRANA PRIDE, May 20th, 17:00, REJA!

Are you willing to open your heart and take the next step?
We do!
We gather on the 20th of May in the capital, but not far from the daily struggles of suburbia, where violence drowns LGBTI+ young men and women’s hopes for a better future in which they can live as their true selves. This May 20th, we march in Tirana, where despite the colorful facades and the illusion of false security, our lives and the lives of our communities are still lived in fear and confined within four walls.
It is with full confidence that we march, knowing that the hatred that attacks us and the homophobia that tries to intimidate us will never succeed in smothering our hopes and dreams.
Hundreds of us will participate in the parade, but we are thousands in every Albanian city. We are your friends and family, the professionals who care for you, the teachers who educate your children, and the police who protect you and this society. We are journalists and truth-tellers, lawyers and social workers, engineers, academics, artists from Tirana and workers from the outskirts. Our fight for social, legal, and political recognition, our right to family life, and our right to live love in all its colours won’t be defeated, and is here to stay, no matter how far homophobia and transphobia push us apart. After many years of invisibility and a decade of Pride and activism, we will continue to rise above the darkness that tries to subdue our hopes. We march for our rights and others in our communities who have been neglected and disappointed by society for a long time.
This Pride, we come as we know best, full of colours and pride, open to love and solidarity!
The 20th of May is the date! Come join us!
