Student’s protests in Albania / Activists of “Për Universitetin”movement face backlash

During the massive student’s protest which are taking place these days in Albania against the Education Reform on Universities, some of the activists from the renowned movement “Për Universitetin”are facing threats, physical attacks and backlash from different attackers coming from the political youth wings.
Some of the activists coming from the youth wing of Democratic Party, the Albanian oppositon political party, have attacked physically the activists from this movement. Bora Mema, one of the activist from “Lëvizja Për Universitetin”, has stated that militants from these political party have cordoned off the activitst and other students in order not to let them take the word or give interviews with the journalist covering the protest.
“They have cordoned us off!!! We can not move anywhere, This is unbelievable. The situations is getting worse, they are behaving in an odd way” expressed Mema. She is a Bachelor student at the Faculty of Philology, at the University of Tirana.
Also, another activist and simultanesouly a professor, Jani Marka has been for years now a vocal activist at the movement “Për Universitetin”. He was denied the right to talk during the protest held yesterday. The televisions were transmitting livestream the moment when Marka was attacked and dispatched from the protest.
A journalist of “News24” TV was present at the incident and reported: “There is clear evidence that members of the politcal youth wings have dispersed into the students crowd and are trying to joint forces in order to scatter the students”.
