Aleanca Kundër Diskriminimit LGBT invites applications for the position of Researcher. This is a limited time position starting February 2015 and ending October 2015.

Even though a lot of good work and practices have been developed to fight violence against women in Albania, the fight has been mostly general and never focused on for example the LBT community that suffers from double discrimination, as women and as LBT persons. In order to reduce the violence towards women and LBT women, Aleanca within the framework of the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women will conduct a research and assessment of the situation in education and health. For this reason Aleanca is seeking a Senior researcher who will conduct a variety of complex and independent interviews with professionals in the health and education institutions, within the overall scope of the research project. Collect, analyze and report on experimental data; create and maintain accurate and timely records of interview results and protocol design; assist in the publication of research findings; perform computer data analysis; design manuals/procedures/guidelines; statistical analysis of data; prepare progress reports and presentations;

The researcher’s Major functions include the following:

–   to develop, interviews with LGBT community members and key stakeholders and a literature study, the appropriate tools, such as indicators and questionnaires, for monitoring the status and quality of healthcare services in Albania as regards the LGBT community.

–   to review, in cooperation with Aleanca Kundër Diskriminimit të LGBT healthcare and education institutions in Albania, as well as gather quantitative and qualitative data on the status and quality of healthcare services and education institutions in Albania as regards the LGBT community.

– to present, to the Ministry of Health and Education and other relevant an overall draft assessment report on the status and quality of healthcare services in Albania as regards the LGBT community as well as a series of specific indicators that can be incorporated within the periodic review of the national health plan.

– to deliver the final report, including the feedback from the stakeholder, and develop the informative manuals in collaboration with Aleanca Kunder Diskriminimit te LGBT.

Requirements of the Candidate

• Master’s degree or  PhD in a social science or related discipline
• At least 5 years of work experience preferably in the non-profit sector or private sector;
• Sympathy regarding LGBT issues in Albania
• Excellent computer skills, especially Excel, MSWord and Internet use
• Fluency in Albanian and English

Candidates need to show evidence of the following:

• strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• an understanding of the political process;
• a high level of motivation and initiative;
• a determination to explore issues thoroughly;
• the ability to think analytically;

• the ability to work well as part of a team.
